Who the heck is Sawmill?

In basic terms, we're sh*t disturbers (Behance won't let us use naughty words) with a purpose. We're growing our digital agency and introducing a new way to serve advertising clients. Quality is at the forefront of everything we do. Right behind that is the belief that there is no status quo. Combined, those two things allow us to deliver incredible value to our clients across our four pillars - strategy, design, content and digital ads.

Well, that's the work side of it, and we do enjoy it! But we chose to have our studio in Muskoka because we wanted to enjoy our lives outside of work. If that's something you can get behind, let's keep going through this.

What the heck do we need?

We're here because we need a Front End Development wizard to join our growing team. We have done projects for major Canadian brands, and we are looking for a team member to help us grow our unique creative enterprise.

We are located in Huntsville, in the heart of Muskoka cottage country. While we are open to remote opportunities, we would prefer the selected candidate be willing to join us occasionally in this beautiful country.

You'll be wearing multiple hats in the dev world. Working smack dab in the middle of our small (and wild) creative team and (smart) strategic team, you'll be taking Figma and Illustrator dreams and making them a reality as well as helping to maintain our current projects. On top of that, you'll be helping to develop the front end of our new web-based digital platform.

And trust us. It's going to be way too sick.

If you like time at your desk but love collaborating, can think outside metaphorical and real boxes, and believe creativity has the potential to affect change, you could be a good fit. If you also crush intricate Webflow development (think e-commerce, combining Shopify with Webflow and allllll that fun) in your sleep, and love getting transitions juuuuuust right, you could be the perfect fit.

What we're looking for (AKA What the heck you'll be doing)

A talented Webflow Developer looking to grow with us and expand their skillset as we continue to grow and expand our business. You must have a passion for solving problems and be a self starter. We're set to shake up the marketing industry and take on clients of all sizes, and your work would be a part of that success.

Responsibilities

  • Own the technical and engineering aspects of our dev work
  • Work closely amongst our talented UX designers to bring to life Figma or Illustrator mockups
  • Coordinate with external contractors on projects
  • Manage existing repos via Github
  • Ability to clearly communicate scope of project and timelines with client services and creative teams
  • Provide our clients with our creation you have overseen from design to deployment

Minimum Requirements

  • Extensive knowledge of Webflow - animations, e-commerce, combining applications with Webflow like Shopify, Zapier, etc.
  • An keen eye for design and applying CSS effectively
  • Experience with revision control systems - github, bitbucket, etc.

Bonus experience

  • A strong knowledge of javascript/typescript and HTML5
  • Frontend build systems and page optimization - eg. webpack
  • Worked with some form of backend system - (Ruby on Rails, Django, Wordpress, ..)
  • Understanding of software architecture and data modeling

In General

Designs marketing and communications collateral including but not limited to print and digital.  Helps define and reinforce AUA Brand and serves as a graphic design consultant for AUA departments. Oversees quality production of final pieces.

Typically

 

The individual in this position will:

  • Develop design concepts and ideas that are high quality and consistent with the AUA brand look and feel, including infographics, brand assets, print collateral, web materials, animations, and data visualizations.
  • Ensure quality and timely production by working closely with internal team members,  members of the creative team, and vendors to coordinate production schedules and complete collateral on time.
  • Support the creative manager in developing and implementing graphic guidelines.
  • Remain competent and current in the graphic design craft.

Mobile app UI/UX designer (iOS preferred)

We aim to help parents raise digitally healthy kids whom they can trust online. Our app is central to that goal, and it's much more than just a content shell: it's an integrated, interactive experience for parents to engage with their kids. See clifton.studio for more information.

Project description:

Design the full scope of the mobile app, inclusive of both the MVP milestone as well as the following ~2 milestones, and deliver design assets ready for eng to develop in code. The MVP will be iOS-only with Android coming later, so we should design for both (though leaning towards iOS design patterns). Specifically:

  1. Tighten and finalize the current UX mocks (~50 screens), with UX/usability research as necessary
  2. Establish an overall visual design for the iPhone app (typography, layout, colors, iconography, etc) based on inspiration provided
  3. Establish a reusable UI pattern library
  4. Create the nav and all screens+emails for the app (responsive for multiple screen sizes, only phone, no tablet)
  5. Deliver Figma+assets, ready to implement
  6. [Maybe] Take a swing at a logo :)

Qualificação

Formação em Design Gráfico ou relacionado
Experiência no mercado de moda (obrigatório)
Pelo menos 1 ano de experiência
Experiência com pacote Adobe - Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign ou Canva
Boa comunicação, pensamento estratégico, habilidade em tipografia e design
Ter Portfolio de Trabalho
Tempo integral
